Sediment is an artistic research on Rotterdam’s geological history through its soil. How can the story and history of the soil of Rotterdam be visualized using its material? The clay is sediment from a time when there was no human presence, so my pieces of clay bear witness to a geological time that I can now suddenly touch. My installation invites viewers to feel that deep past, while confronting an urgent question: could climate change return Rotterdam to the sea it once was?
The project consists of two parts, the research and the artisic work.
